Attractive for potential talent

The challenge of construction company BAM: being attractive to potential personnel. Athlon helps BAM to implement a mobility policy that is as effective and efficient as possible.

A lease car is not enough

We have more room for office workers to change our mobility situation. The starting point is that we listen to their wishes. But we also want to be and remain an attractive employer for potential staff. Certain groups of skilled people are becoming increasingly scarce, from technically trained people to carpenters. We feel competition from other companies, so it is obvious that we want to be the preferred employer for the greatest talents.

Our mobility policy can help with that. Just promising a lease car is not enough. Many young talents live in the city and cannot get rid of their lease car. Having a lease car is not a pleasure, but a burden. Moreover, interest in car ownership is declining: people no longer need to have a car, but want to be mobile. Then you can think of other forms of mobility. In this way employees can opt for a mobility budget, with which they can choose how they want to travel.

    Shared cars

At the end of this year or the beginning of next year we also expect to be able to offer shared cars at our larger offices. And we want to make more use of public transport; our head office in Bunnik (Netherlands) is located on the railways. Perhaps we can also make more business kilometers with public transport. We want to keep track of this with an Athlon mobility app, on which you can choose transport and track travel costs. That is easier than filling in declaration forms at the end of the month.

    Encouraging for electric

We encourage people to opt for an electric car. BAM installs charging points on its own grounds, but also for customers. The range is still limited, but EVs are a great option for people who don't have to travel far. Such cars are good for the environment and they are good for BAM. Various clients, such as the Dutch government, are increasingly looking at the degree of sustainability of the companies with which they do business. Yet there is also a certain idealism; as large entrepreneurs we also want to take responsibility. We have set ourselves the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 25 percent in 2020 compared to 2015.
